How to organize a sock drawer in 4 easy steps is the subject of today’s post.
This quick project is an easy way to achieve a greater level of organization and the peace and relief that comes with it. Now that fall is beginning to wrap-up and winter is creeping closer and closer, there’s no time like the present to get your sock drawer in order. Grab and go convenience makes life easier and happier – even in your sock drawer!
Step 1: Open up your messy sock drawer and dump the contents on your bed or floor.
Step 2: Sort and purge. Find matches for every sock; throw out any that are missing mates. Examine each pair carefully. Toss those that are torn, worn or threadbare. Save those that are in good wearable shape and place them into categories by color and use. In this case, there were blue, brown and black dress socks and a few pairs of heavier hiking socks.
Step 3: Divide and conquer! Assemble a diamond drawer organizer. (This one is made of plastic and easily slides together to form diamond-shaped compartments.) Place the assembled organizer into the drawer. I ordered and used the Dial Diamond Drawer Organizer. It was easy to use and works great! At $14.99, it is an excellent value for the organization and relief it provides.
Step 4: Fill the organizer up with socks keeping like colors together. For the hiking socks, I repurposed a narrow shoe box which took up the extra space in the drawer and gave me an easy place to store the heavier weight socks.
An organized sock drawer reduces “getting dressed stress” and irritation, and it makes putting laundry away easier as well. Don’t underestimate the value of a few well-organized dresser drawers – seemingly little things like this really can and do make life happier!
What does your sock drawer currently function like? How might this form of organization benefit you or a family member?
